Guide to Organising Your Laundry Room
If you want to protect your clothes from possible damage, you need to keep an organised laundry room. Making sure that this space is well-kept and clean helps you carry out your tasks efficiently and conveniently. There are several techniques that will enable you to systematise your washing area.
First, place laundry products within easy reach. This goes especially for detergents that you are using regularly. You can mount a shelf on the wall, where you can put soaps and washing powders on the bottom division. A closet or cabinet is also a great place for keeping your laundry materials if you want to keep these out from your children's reach.
Allocate different baskets for each type of clothing. For example, you can group whites together while you put delicate fabrics in another container. If you want to be systematic, you can place labels on each basket to help your kids determine where to put their used clothing.
Your laundry room should also have a specific area where you can fold or iron newly-washed clothes. You can use the same board for folding and ironing if you have limited space. You can attach a board hanger on the wall to keep it out of your way if you are not using it. There should also be a specific storage place for the iron.
Lastly, you need to equip the room with rods and clothing lines. You are going to need the first one for hanging clothes after ironing while the latter is for drip-drying fabrics. You should also keep hangers and clothespins handy. You can keep these in separate containers.
