First, locate the device's reservoir or steam receptacle and fill at least one quarter with white vinegar. After which, you will need to plug the device in and turn it into its steam setting. Second, gently press it down a clean dry cloth. With this, the dirt residue that is being melted inside the gadget will stick to the fabric. Continue to do so until no deposit is visible. After that, unplug the iron and rinse it well with water to eliminate its smell.

Third, after its surface cools down, clean its soleplate with water mixed with mild detergent. Next, use the nylon scrubber to remove the debris left on the plate. If you wish to do a more extensive maintenance, then use a clean piece of cloth dampened with white vinegar. However, be sure to avoid using abrasive materials on the surface as those may leave scratches on, thereby damaging your clothes the next time you use the iron as well. Finally wipe and rinse the remaining parts, including the balance, to remove dust particles.
