Simply adding  a belt is one of the quickest ways to dress up an outfit. So if you are tight on budget at the moment, and don’t want to spend money on an entire new wardrobe, just pick up a  stylish belt that works with something you currently own. With winter literally round the corner, belts are great for dressing up your attire in the midst of all those warm layers.

For some people, the month of July is an akward month to shop because majority of the items on sale aren’t really relevant as you get ready for winter, except if you are going on holidays. However if you are savvy shopper, you can still take advantage of the sales by buying some items that will see you through to winter.

When buying fashion pieces this month, look for items with warm colours like brown, red, purple and violet. You shouldn’t really be in a hurry to start buying winter clothing as you can still mix your summer and winter pieces together.

Scarves: this fashion piece will always be in fashion regardless of the season. It can easily be added to your winter wardrobe.

Leggings: not only are they great to wear during the summer months with tunics or long t shirts but during winter too, you can also wear leggings with oversize sweater or knitted dress.

Flat Shoes: like I said previously, unless you are planning an exotic holiday where sunshine is guaranteed like the clock, Ir’s pretty pointless trying to invest in pair of flat sandals. Instead buy a pair of fashionable footwear like the snake effect pump with the green corsage from Fifi Belle. The green is so cute and will add a splash of colour to black or grey outfit.

Belt: as majority of the winter wardrobe is predominantly black and grey adding colourful accessories like the purple belt will make your outfit more interesting. And for summer, you can also wear the belt with your maxi dress or tunic.

Wide Band Tribly Hat £12, Marks and Spencer  

Hat: I love how tribly hats were popular this summer. As well as protecting you from the sun, it would also add coolness when dressed up with your winter wardrobe outfit.

Cardigans: especially now that the weather is becoming cooler, a cardigan will do the trick of keeping you warm and would also become your winter essentials

Colourful scarf is one of summer most staple accessories to have, as it can act as a shawl when the weather becomes a little bit cold in the evenings. I am loving the Havana mosaic scarf from Lucky Brand, because it’s a piece of clothing you can throw into your handbag and bring out when you to add when required. It features a bold print and tasseled fringed border. You can wear it your basic jeans and t shirt for something casual and chic.

If you feel or noticed that your outfit needs a bit of va va voom, then the missing ingredients might be a fashion belt. A lot of fashionable woman from Michelle Obama to Jessica Alba knows how to use belt to make an outfit appear interesting. Whether you are wearing a dress with a colourful band or simply adding a coloured belt to a monochrome outfit can make an outfit pop. Just take cue from Jessica Alba.

Pearls are no longer reserved for grannies or older women, these days women of all ages can now get into the act of wearing pearls. I just recently discovered that Mod Cloth now carries dresses in longer length, so whilst browsing their website this morning, I came across this tall trench coat-inspired frock called ‘Save this Dress for a Rainy Day’. It’s not hard to see why such name has been given to this dress, as it has been inspired by the classic trench coat. The style of the dress screams safari, it features ruffle trim with the sash waist which is main feature of trench coats any way. The sash will help to create a waist line.
